Start with the numbers that decide whether a ramp, step, or stroller will actually fit your dog and your routine.

01 · The three numbers

Don’t start with the box.

Your dog’s weight matters, but dimensions and reach often tell you more about real-world fit. Take these measurements before comparing products.

Shoulder height

Measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder while your dog is standing naturally.

B

Resting length

Measure the space your dog takes up lying down, from nose to the base of the tail.

C

Destination height

Measure from the ground to the lip, seat, mattress, or surface your dog needs to reach.

03 · Ramp geometry

Longer usually means gentler.

The same destination height creates a different incline depending on ramp length. Compare the geometry before comparing traction, folding style, or color.

04 · Stroller fit

Capacity is not the same as comfort.

A frame can support a certain load while the cabin is still too short, narrow, or difficult for your dog to enter. Compare the interior dimensions with the way your dog actually rests.

  • Can your dog stand without crowding the canopy?
  • Can they turn around inside?
  • Can they settle into their normal resting position?
  • Can they enter without a lift you cannot safely manage?
